Congrats!! Mine is 18 months old so a bit older but I made certain I had bottles and pacifiers on hand just in case. And I was right we needed both. He no longer gets a bottle and we are down to a pacifier only at night but for the first couple of weeks he needed a bottle at night. I'd get a snuggle toy for bedtime and some baby toys for daytime. Mine loves toys he can stack and put into something else. Like a bucket/sorter toy. Ours also does better at nap/night time with a special blankie. He loves to snuggle it.
You might also try to find out when the last time the baby had its immunizations done. We found out ours hadn't been to the doctor since he was 4 months old and was 6 shots behind.
That means you will get to do a first birthday party. How fun !!!!

Each kid's different but...
Find out what you can from previous caretakers as you know.
We do nap at 10:30 ish and 1:30 ish.
Daily food intake recommendations per age are readily available online to print and have on fridge. It's been so handy here after getting an 8mo old out of the blue.
Have Fun

11 months... hmm, my advice would be to just get up everything off of the floor. They get into EVERYTHING. They are chokers-- and lock up the cabinets! Make up lots of milk/forrmula bottles ahead of time and plan ahead for meal times - they are super messy. Buy some tub toys, they love the bath. Have fun!!!
Baby boys are a crack up..

Yay for you! We've got an almost 11 month old right now! They're so much fun

I'd check about any food sensitivities baby might have at this point, since introducing solids is a big part of their diets. I doubt at this age they'll be very interested in actual jarred baby foods so think simple, fiber filled and bland. Soft fruits like bananas, pears, peaches, the pumpkin I have now LOVES raspberries (although a lot of babies have reactions to strawberries so you might want to hold off on those), steamed veggies of all kinds, plain pastas, unseasoned meats, dry cereals are good, remember though, no honey and no peanut butter.

Get the skinny on their formula but introducing whole milk is right around the corner if it hasn't been done already.

If baby is completely on a bottle I'd get a sippy cup and get them going with one of those. Start with formula in it if they haven't ever had one before. "Nuby" cups make that transition easier, they've got a super soft spout that's similar to a bottle nipple.

Other then that get ready to move! You'll likely be dealing with an avid crawler and possible walker. Baby proof EVERYTHING in their reach and a foot above that.

I'd take his/her lead as far as schedules go. Don't push bed or nap times, just go with the flow and see where they're at.

Enjoy!!!

what a fun age.... i currently have a 7 month old and enjoying every minute of it. At 11 month old he is probably starting to eat some table food, but be careful with spices. I always season my food after dishing the kids out. he may also eat stage 3 baby food and could eat the toddler cousines. 3 regular meals with snacks in between. he should be on formula for atleast 1 more month then can start whole milk. at 11 month he could be cut to 1 nap a day after lunch but man still require 2 naps, just depends on the child....trust me he will let you know. All of my kids are in the bed at 7 pm and sleep until about 7 in the morning with a two hour nap after lunch. It took a couple of weeks to get them use to the sleeping schedule but it works for me. i keep newborn up to 4 yr olds.....the quicker you can get them on a schedule the easier for everyone. Have fun with your new little one....

wow thanks everyone!!!
He is supposedly coming with clothes etc.. never thought to ask about formula, but I think I have some samples on hand. I did pick up some baby food tonight.
I will also get his 2 yr old sister and I already have a 3 and a 4 yr old!!!
I have the house ready... I am strict with my schedule... kids are in bed by 8 pm and sleep until 7 am, with a 2 hr rest or nap. Its how I stay sane!! But we have afternoon preschool, visits and therapy to deal with now!!
I cant wait!!!!! It didnt register that I would get to celebrate his 1 st birthday!!! I cant wait!!

You might also want to ask about if he is already on WIC. I had a heck of a time tracking down my fkids WIC folder and couldn't get a new one until the old one was turned in.

make sure you find out what formula he is taking and what size diapers he wears...my 7 month old went thru 4 different formulas when i got him at 7 weeks old before we found one his tummy could tolerate. he also has exzema (sp?) so every baby wash, lotion i use breaks him out still haven't found one that works. That being said diapers also broke him out. The expensive huggies, pampers, and luvs broke him out. The only kind i can use on him is actually wal-mart brand-Parent's Choice. Another thing to check is expiration dates all baby stuff expires quick: ie---formula, cereal, baby food as well as carseats just to name a few. and again have fun with your two new babies.

Oh my! A almost 1,2, 3 and 4 year old?!? You are going to be BUSY, but I am sure you'll have a blast and do great at it! My DD is right around that age. She still needs 2 naps a day, one shortly after waking and one in the afternoon, but she's been known to skip one. Have fun with your baby!

I would get a stuffed animal to cuddle with for bedtime, a pacifier, a few bottles and a sippy cup. A few chunky cars, soft foam blocks, stacking cups. I am sure that you already have almost everything that you will need due to having other young ones in the house already so I wouldn't worry too much. I would do a crawl thru (a real crawl) to see what they can get into from their point of view.

So I got the kids today and OMG this baby is BIG!!! He is adorable tho!!
They send me formula and clothes... plus a schedule!! I was quite impressed!! I will be altering the schedule a little, seriously who bathes their kids after naps and gives kids dinner at 4 pm?!?!?
He is eating some regular foods and does really well with it. He gets 2 bottles a day. He is pretty clingy which is understandable. I wore him in a front carrier some today.
His sister is adorable too! She is a chubby little toddler too!! So far so good, I think keeping a schedule will be what keeps me sane!! Altho with court hearings, therapy, visits and preschool, its kinda hard to stick to it!
thank you all for the good advice!!

I feel terrible reading this! 10 minutes ago, while in our file cabinet,I found my other foster children's WIC vouchers/folder. I feel so guilty. I hope the other foster parents were able to get their WIC.
