How and who searches for birthparents on the run?
I think the judge reprimanded DCF for allowing my daughter's birthmother to take home baby number 12, even though at the time the baby was born she had 4 open cases and had not complied with any of the judge's orders. I've been told they are now looking for birthmom to take the new baby who will soon be 6 months.
Who exactly is looking for mom? How do they go about looking for her? |

It's possible that CPS is looking for her through acquaintances, family and the like. There may be an arrest warrant out for her, in which case, if she were pulled over by the police or something similar they would arrest her and call CPS.

Our FS bio mom is also MIA. She's in violation of her probation and if she gets picked up / arrested again, she'll go back to jail. That is IF they find her. She's MIA about six weeks now. SW says no one is looking for her... just if she does something and gets caught...
That just makes me feel so very confident but that's our legal system. |

My FS bio mom was mia for a few weeks after the new baby was born. I don't think anyone was actively looking for her (they thought she was in Mexico), but she contacted another agency social worker who was alerted by CPS. There was also a call to CPS about her. So, I think most times it is a "if they turn up" thing.

Depends on where you live, but where I am at they have a unit that is part of DCF that does searches. It is a very in depth search of family, friends, public records, utilites ect... I have seen the results and it is very detailed. They send out certified letters to dozens of places make tons of phone calls. The last one I saw was about 15 pages of contacts. It can also be used to prove that they searched for the parent and could not find them when it comes time to TPR.

Thank you all for your responses. Now I have an idea of what they do to search for birthparents.
