FP "too" attached? How?
I have a general question. I have noticed on the boards occasionally someone haveing a child removed because they were "too" attached? In my county, they look at this as a good thing. The FP's are attached and parenting the child like they would a bio child. Isn't this in the best interest of the child? To be in a home that loves them? I can understand if the fp's are standing in the way of RU, but in general this is great. What do you think?

Actually, I've never come across a board member who requested a child to leave (or had a child forcibly removed) because they were too attached. Which thread were you looking in?

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09. Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products. Last edited by Kat-L : 07-22-2008 at 10:22 AM. |

that was the thinking a generation ago, where children were often removed if they seemed like they were attaching. However, I've never heard of that happening these days, and it is true that the prevailing thinking is that attachment is a positive thing. I'm sure there are probably a few old-fashioned SW's left somewhere, though. Hopefully in those cases, the children's therapists and CASA's step forward to intervene.

Our FD's grandma wanted her removed from our home because she was "too attached" for her liking. She fought tooth & nail to have her moved asap.
Luckily, the cw and everyone else involved saw her attachment to us as a good thing (even mom too!) so unless other family steps up, then I don't see her being moved any time soon. We're hoping for RU to a safe situation. ![]() |
