For the first one, we gave 5 dollars, just because it was so special and he pulled it himself. Then we go get the gold dollars that the post office gives as change and they get that thereafter.

We do one gold dollar per tooth too. We may have done more for the first -- I'm not sure though, it's been too long.

We do a $2 bill for the first one, and $1 coins or $0.50 pieces after that.
Something different so that it can be held onto as a keepsake! Have fun!

My first son's first teeth had to be pulled (two at once!) so I don't know how much the poor, guilt ridden tooth fairy gave him, I think it was about $10!! LOL After that it is usually one or two of the gold coins
(sprinkled with glittery tooth fairy dust of course)

Our tooth fairy pays $2 for the first tooth and after that: $1 for a healthy tooth and 50 cents for one that had a cavity/filling etc......to promote good dental hygience.
Also, I suggest reading the book "It Aint Easy Being the ToothFairy". It is hilarious! Kim

Holy Cow! The tooth fairy is REALLY generous at my house. These kids expect $5.00 a tooth! I think that was started by a Grandma tooth fairy though

We do $1 regardless.
We have issues with her at our house that I will warn you about so you don't make the same mistake. Around Halloween last year we watched scary movies during the day time and my son insisted he wanted to watch them, all were on regular TV so I said fine. One was about the tooth fairy, she was evil and killed kids when they were in the dark. I didn't understand that when I read the info on it. The next day my son lost his tooth and freaked out that she was coming, we now leave the tooth by the coffee machine for her to pick up at her convenience. She and I were best friends in high school and sometimes she doesn't stop by the first night. She comes on her next slow night so we can have coffee and chat, that can take a night or two sometimes. My son has just gotten over the whole scary movie thing, he told our AT every week for months that he had bad dreams b/c Mom made him watch scary movies. |

Sorry...got the title wrong. It's a 2007 book. It's "You Think It's Easy Being the Tooth Fairy?" I am an elementary teacher on hiatus and I currently do the local library's preschool storytime. I have this book pulled to read to the kiddos in August just before school starts since many will leave for kindergarten and start losing teeth. It is super cute! The author is Sheri Bell-Rehwoldt.
