Home trial
Is the home trial the six month period of time after the kids return home? or is it something else?
I am just full of questions today. Thanks bluebird38 |

The time after the child we placed back with family was what they called a "home trial" in our county- In most cases the family will be pretty closely monitored to be sure that things are going well.

In our county a home trial, or trial placement home, occurs in a 3-6 month window before the next permancy hearing. It is heavily monitored with many services in place in the home.
Sometimes this is the precursor to kids being reunified and a way to make a strong transition back into the family. Sometimes it is a way to get physical evidence that the parents are unfit and the children are not safe in the home. Here there is still a six month window after reunification where the family is monitored by DSS, but that is not followed up on closely at all, only the trial placement home is watched carefully.
