We recently took a placement that was supposed to be very short term. Now both parents have run into some trouble with criminal type charges and are possibly looking at some major time. I'm just curious about the process from here, and what kind of time frames are typical if anyone knows?

I think that it is definitely a case by case thing... My first palcement was a sibling group of 3 -ages 2 months 2 years and 4 years and we were given NO timeline.. I was thinking we would have them for a couple of months like everyone else from class had their placements. But months and months went by and nothing changed. The 2 older kiddos were both special and high needs little ones who needed a lot more than I could give so they unfortunatly moved on to another home after being with us for 5ish months. But... now 14 months later we still have the 2 month old (now 16 months) and are looking at possibly another year. (we are just foster also.. not fost- adopt) We also just got another placement in March and are looking at atleast January if not longer because biomom is in jail right now. But I have also had a lot of foster parent friends get placements that only lasted 3 days or 3 weeks.
