Drug Exposed Newborns

I have seen alot of posts here regarding how to deal with drug exposed babies...I have had my share and this really works....Get a Baby Sling...and wear your baby. I have found this helps when they dont want eye contact or closeness of being held(usually they are restless). I swaddle mine up, put them in the sling and go about my day...gives them the closeness without overstimulating...matches movement when they were in in the tummy and frees up your arms You can find at babies'r'us or online. Its been a lifesaver...thought I would pass along My drug babies have ended up being some of the sweetest things after intial withdrawal...Good Luck!

Thanks for the suggestion kydz_7. I have found that having a full-length mirror mounted sideways along the length of a changing table is the perfect way to initiate eye contact with little ones. They are more apt to make eye contact when looking at your image that directly at you. It is a short move then to direct eye contact.

"P" was drug exposed and what worked with her is the Baby Bjorn (tummy baby holder) and swaddling. I would carry that child in the Bjorn just about everywhere we went. I even carried her around the house while doing laundry and dishes.
