Aside from asking someone within DCF, has anyone ever found a way to check on a former placement?

Our first placement left our home three years ago yesterday. Things ended badly with DCF regarding that situation (we'd hired an attorney). So of course when she was back in foster care a few months later, they wouldn't place her with us. We could never find out what happened to her.

I know her parents have remained in and out of jail and were just recently arrested again. Long story short, our license is going to expire at the end of the year, but before it does, we'd like to know if she's settled, hopefully adopted by now. But I have no idea who to ask for help, since everyone was always so extremely nasty toward us after the attorney situation.

If you've been there done that, I would really appreciate any advice.

Is there not one person that works at DCF that you could trust? We had a bad time with our local DHS, but there were still workers that we had bonded with and trusted. Even when they don't have one of my cases I feel like I could call them and ask them anything.

What I can't understand is why they didn't give her back to you. Our csb always asked us if we would take them back if they came back in the system. What does your lawyer say about his? I don't think we are too much in our csb's "good" list considering we are fighting to get our little one back since they didn't do their job right.

Well, a long time ago we had someone connected who did check, and all they told her was that this child was not in the system. My guess is that she went to live with a relative, but I don't know if she was adopted, or if she's still flip-flopping back-and-forth. And I don't even know for sure if she "did" go live with a relative. I just wish I knew.
