Well, my 9 year old bio-d just got a black eye from her dad!

Don't know whether to laugh or cry. We're outside on our front steps trying to find the source of the most pitiful mewing. Finally we look UP and there's a cat on our roof! DH is trying to get a better look at it, and he steps backward - OFF the top step. He's a BIG guy, by the way. So he's flailing around trying to grab the railing and catch his balance and he BACK-HANDS K. HARD right across the face. She didn't even say "ow" she was so intent on the cat! I didn't even realize what happened! So the rescue the cat, we get in the car, and then she says "Huh...my face feels kind of hot and tingly" Yep. BIG red mark, a bruise coming up, and the eye is already turning black. AND the poor kids has a public piano recital to do today. I told her that if she tells people what happened, at least PLEASE give enough of the story to paint a clear picture and don't just say "My dad belted me upside the head!". God knows I'd hate to have to deal with the social workers in this town ;-)

LOL - yeah, it doesn't take much to get a rumour started! ;-) A couple of years ago I slipped and fell OUT of the shower and banged my face up pretty good. I don't think anyone believed me because it really sounds so silly- I should have just told them I walked into a door! :-)

I worked in a pet shop for awhile and got a REALLY NASTY parrot bite that turned a good portion of my lower arm black and blue. I was ASTOUNDED at the number of friends of myself and my now DH who point blank ASKED if he'd done it to me.

A parrot bite?? Oh my! I wonder why so many people are so quick to assume domestic abuse...especially when they know the couple involved?

I think this one might qualify for the "no good deed goes unpunished" category!

I had an incident happen to me a few months ago where I was trying to catch a dog and fell, hitting my head on a wooden fence post which resulted in a huge bump on my forehead. Within a few days my eye was black and blue as well as across the bridge of my nose. Unfortunately, I was to attend a PPT meeting a few days after the incident. And there I was sitting in a room full of CPS employees, attorneys, and CASA workers (which was embarrassing enough) but then having to explain what I did to myself so they wouldn't think someone else did it. One attorney told me that if I was one of their clients they wouldn't have believed me!
