Experience w/ in home services?

I was offerered in home services for my fd at the beggining of placement so it didn't end like all the others. The services just started last Monday. The woman that came out seemed very nice, had lots of good ideas and said she would call next day to schedule appointment for next week. I never heard back, have tried to call her on cell and no voice mail. CW gave me office number I spoke to someone there, left a message for her and received no return call.

I am not a very patient person when it comes to this kind of stuff. It took five weeks to get initial visit set up and now I havn't heard back. If they are going to have services in place I want someone reliable. Our schedule fills up fast and I can't be making appointments at the last minute (if she ever calls back). She told my fd about all the help she was going to give to help w/ her living here, school, with her getting back with her mom (she will be working with fd and bmom also) and that she would see her next week.

So besides my frustration of her not calling back she is now, at this point, just another adult that appears to have let down fd. This womans lack of follow through is enough already for me not to want to work with her. Especially since they are supposed to be available for emergency calls.

Am I being too impatient and picky if I tell the cw I want someone else who is going to be seriously committed to what this child needs?

We have in-home occupational therapy, but she's thru a private agency, not DCFS.

I would call the office number again and request to speak to her supervisor. Unless she was out sick or something for the remainder of the week there is absolutely no excuse for not returning your call.

I would let the supervisor know exactly what she told you and that you have tried to contact her and have left messages to no avail.

All three of my fc have in-home services and I have yet to have this type of problem.

What kind of service it is. For us we have child find and every family has a cordinator. They are the ones that set the assesment and find a therapist and make sure that the therapist goes.

I only have had two problems. One was the lady came twice for speech and never showed up again. The other one was my ds physical therapist. She was strange. She would go to my ds room and try to close the door. She would close, I would open it, she would close it I would open it. Finally I just went in with the baby and sat down on his bed to watch. She looked at me and asked me to leave said I was distracting him and that the dog was bothering. I told her that if she cant work with my son in the living with me there, then not to come back. She didnt. I mean come on I do not know this woman and Im going to let her close herself in the room with my son, yeah right.

Good for you for standing up to that PT Shycar. Who knows what she was going to do with the door closed. It may have been very innocent, but then again..... You can never be too careful.
