Mother's Day can't get any better than this..

I thought this Mother's Day would be like my last two, no Happy Mothers Day from anyone because well face it I am not a "real mom" and then this happened.

I just got back from spending a couple hours with my former foster children. My former fs gave his Mom a hug and then came over to me and told me I was just as much a mom and thanked me for him for bringing him to see his Mom last mothers day when he really needed her. He gave me a big hug, told me how much he loved me and thanked me for caring for him. It can't possibly get any better than that. I have never felt so emotional on Mother's Day before in my life.

As foster parents we sometimes need reminders of why we do what we do. I am glad I had him this morning to remind me.

To all the mothers out there, especially for all of you that have the same feelings twords mothers day as I do and that don't get to hear happy mothers day because you are not a "real mom"

Happy Mother's Day

michsm - Please don't feel that you are not a 'real' mom. To each and every foster child you are. When you touch your arm does it feel real or fake? Real. Just what I thought. See, you are a real mom.

Happy Mother's Day.

I am so happy for you. My sister is fostering now and her 17 year old fd got her a necklace that said I love you, Mom. I know how happy that made her. Sometimes words are even better. You made such an impact in his life. Happy mother's day! You are clearly a mom.

That is great, I bet that did make your day!

I know it seems like some people don't give foster parents the credit they deserve; just know that if we didn't do it, the others wouldn't have the strength to. You are very much a mother!

That is so wonderful. Something similar happened to me. On friday I posted that I felt left out because I invited curly top's mom to his school's mother's day breakfast and she took all the presents he had made FOR ME! Well yesterday when I picked them up from their weekend visit Curly top had one of those huge cards for me and bunny boy had a key chain that he made at school, it says MOM. He made 2, one for his mom and one for me. Their dad bought that card for the boys to give to me, parents are separated. It touched my heart more that I though it would specially because of the big bright smile they had on their faces when they ran to me with their gifts..... I will cherish those moments forever........Happy Mother's Day
