most BIG cities have a special section in their paper that list ACTIVITIES in their "Living" Section of the paper and there are always things to do with children as a family. In my city there is a botantical garden that is nice to explore with the kids. Also, some local gardens will have workshops with the kids for a fee. I know during the summer alot of places with pools will have a fee for the family and you can go swimming all summer long.

good luck!

Places like Micheal's and AC More have Saturday morning craft projects kids/moms can do. Do you have a local or township recreational facility? They can advise you of things they offer. Contact your local elementary schools, a lot of times local organizations/places will leave flyers or information at the office for moms/dads to find. Contact local daycare places and see if they have any advice for community activities. Local Movie theatres may have some kind of family activities with cartoon movies to attend. Good luck.

Check with your city and/or county Parks and Recreation. Some smaller cities/counties don't have much but the larger ones have LOTS of things... so you might also check with neighboring cities and counties.

My children's school sends home flyers about things like this so you might contact the school.

I'm not sure where you live, but see if your local park district has a website. Libraries usually have some programs for kids during the summer. Many times movie theaters will have free kids movies once a week during the summer. I have also heard that Lowes (the hardware store) has activities once a month for kids to make little projects for free.

You could also ask your local DHS office if they know of activities for foster families. Sometimes they will know of reduced rate/free activities for foster families.

Some Lowe's stores will have craft activities for kids, usually during summer.
