Anyone else in Illinois?
I was just wondering if anyone out there is a FP in Illinois? We have been licensed for 4+ years and have had one placement in June of 2007. We have 2 beautiful children adopted from Guatemala so we weren't really open to fostering during their adoptions. Our first placement came after our DS was home for 4 months. We decided after 3 months that it would be best if FS was placed in a different home. We felt that our DS only home 4 months was getting neglected and as a mother I had to make a tuff decisions. After this I guess our agency placed us on hold. I called last month to tell them that we are now ready to foster and are really hoping for a placement soon and our CW says that they don't think we are ready and they want to know what has changed in the last 7 months that makes us feel we are ready now.
The truth is a lot has changed for us, we had a lot on our plates last summer but they just don't seem to care. I don't know what I could say to make them see that we are ready. Our hearts are longing to care for children, we have the rooms and clothes all ready. I even quit my part time job to stay at home full time. Any advice? |

Hi,
I'm in nearby Wisconsin. I think I read a post by you before & don't remember if I responded, but here's what I would do - I would ask them to do respite and short-term placements, just to prove that you can do it. They should at least give you a chance, it is hard to come by good foster homes! Good luck. Also, pray for it to happen, and soon you'll have a houseful of kids! ;o) Julie |

Thanks for the support. Our CW is back in the office next week so hopefully I'll be able to talk to her and let her know how strongly we feel about this. I agree praying helps!!
