Not sure where to post this....

I am doing alot of research regarding the adoption of my three littlest ones. They were placed with us adoptively since 9/1/07; however, we fostered two of them since 10/7/05. The littlest one came to us on 9/1 and then all three were placed adoptively. My situation is: I have received board rate for the two boys for the past two years and will continue to receive it until legalization or if their negotiated subsidies kick in first, then the board rate stops. We were told that we get no board rate for the third child, but if and when subsidies kick in then it will be retro-active. We are just now starting the subsidy process, which is not going well as we are getting no help from the worker. Also, the childrens daycare stop on 1/1/08, we won't be legalizing this until at least March providing all goes well. I don't know where to start to get the 'rules'. Why are two of my children being taken care of but not the third. Any help would be great!

Was the third placed with you as a foster placement? And is a ward of the state?? If so, they should be providing the board payments, since day one!

As for childcare, its not a 'given' here in our state, so can't help you out there. Other than knowing how much it costs, which is why I went back to staying home.

The littlest one was placed with us on adoptive placement; therefore, we have to wait 6 months before we can apply for legalization. The boys have been with us since 10/05 and we are still receiving board rate for them after the adoptive placement.

If the youngest was placed as an adoptive placement I think he/she can only get Medicaid until adoption. I didn't sign "adoptive placement" papers until my son turned 2. It was only a few months after his bio parents surrendered so my worker worked w/ me to ensure he get his benefits.

When I signed the "adoptive placement" papers I had to start paying for daycare (he still got his foster subsidy until the adoptive subsidy kicked in after the adoption) . I also requested an adoption court date when I signed the papers- I didn't want the process to slow down when I signed the adoptive papers & it all worked out. Good luck!!!
