Arrow We have not forgotten

My heart is hurting and heavy today. I don't know how many of you have read Kelsey Briggs story, but it has touched me in a deep way. She is the little angel in Ok that was killed at the hands of her step-father, and mother. CPS did nothing to protect this child. I started researching it, and found a website that her grandmother started. It is a tragic story and difficult to read, but after I got through the story I read another posted by a father who lost his son in the same way. I then researched his story and found others....Why? Most of the stories were the same as nobody helped these poor children. As a former foster mom, and now adoptive mom of abused children it killed me. I knew all along as a foster mother there were flaws. I knew there were injustices happening. I got so sick of hearing its just the "system". If anyone would like to read Jimmy's story about his son you can find it here Dillan Coleman (1999 - 2002). This is the reason I became a foster parent. I wanted to help a child who didn't have a voice. I know that sometimes it can be draining and I often felt very helpless. My postition and recomendation was never heard. The judge never asked me how my children were doing even though I was the care taker 24/7. Sometimes I was agry and overwhelmed with the system. I know that you probably feel as if nobody cares but I want you all to know that I do. I care, and I am grateful that you have stood up for a child. I am thankful that you are caring for broken and battered children. This story has inspired me to keep fighting. My role as a foster mom has now moved on as Ive adopted my children. I will continue to be involved and shout from the roof tops until things change and until every child has a voice. Thank you for what you do, it is changing the life of a child. If you live in NC, or Ok please take action for the Briggs family and the Coleman family as they try to make changes to the system. Here is a link to Kelsey's story. Thanks for the encouraging words. I am feeling angry at the "system" today. (may post when Lil'A goes to bed.) But, reading your post helps remind me why it is important for good people to be part of this troubled "system."

Dear God. I have not yet had to face a child with bruises coming to my home, but the sight of PHOTOS of that precious child with bruises made my stomach heave and brought tears to my eyes.

How, how, HOW do these people bring themselves to harm these kids??

God help our precious ones.

My little girl looks so much like Kelsey...I am in shock about this little girl's story. Devastated for Kelsey's family.

I can't even write a coherent thought - there are no words to express my feelings about this situation.

sweetpea that is how I too felt. I had to just think about it for days before I could even write about it. When I started doing research about it I found so many other stories so much the same, different child same story. The good news is that her family has gotten Kelsey's law passed. They are pushing for changes but they need help. This really got me thinking. My children were abused, but by the Grace of God they were not killed. I feel certain that if they had remained with bio mom my special needs son A would not be here today. I am just certain of it. Please pass these stories on for others to read together we can change the "system".

Yes, the more we team together we all can make a difference. This is reality. We have to stand for something or we will fall for anything!! These babies do not deserve this. A harsh reality check to not every one loving their children as we do. We need to find ways to become involved before the cases get this extreme. I am always wondering how? But one child at a time we are making a difference. We just have to keep on keeping on.

Please check out Logan's video, I posted it on my blog and litleraskels has posted it under the foster support also. I has given me answers and hope to these unfortunate deaths. May God Bless and strengthen you all.
