Question Placing fd with a "maybe" uncle?

I just found out yesterday that my 4 month old fd maybe moved sometime in December to go live with an uncle. Though we don't know yet if he is or isn't her uncle because we are still waiting on paternity test on dad to see if indeed he is H's dad. When H was placed with us they did tell us that dad? isn't suitable to care for H right now and that's once paternity tests were in she would be placed with her uncle. A homestudy was done already on the uncle and that came back favorable but what if they move H then paternity tests come back saying that he isn't the dad? Will they then move H again, why would they do that to her? Why can't they just leave her with us until paternity tests are in and then go from there? I guess my question is, is it possible that a judge will grant that H be placed with her "maybe" uncle?

Maybe they are hoping that the results will be back by then. I would think that they would wait until the results come back before they make that determination.

We know the results won't be in by then, H casework told us the tests haven't even been sent off yet. The lab was waiting on bio. mom to go in and she never did. H court date is set for the 1st week in December.

DNA took less than 2 weeks (in Houston) I took my than foster son - bio mom wasn't required to be there. I'd check with the cw as to why they are waiting on bio-mom - anybody can take the child in - they take a picture & swab the mouth - done in 5 seconds. There should be no need to disrupt a child if they can just be sure before the move.

Did this uncle have a relationship with the child prior to her removal? If so, then it doesn't require a blood relationship to make this "maybe uncle" a kinship placement. Many places will move a child to someone with whom they have a prior relationship even if they know there is no biological tie.

Also, if "maybe dad" is a psychological father or legal father to the child, then they may want to support her tie to that side of the family whether or not "maybe dad" is the biological father or not. Especially if "maybe dad" wants to raise the child even if he isn't the bio father. There have been men who have obtained custody of the children they parented even though they were not the biological father, because they were the psychological father or the legal father.

I'm afraid I didn't make the question any easier to answer, did I?

Diane, no fd did not, does not have a relationship with her uncle or dad. She has been in foster care since she was born, she lived with a previous foster mom for 2 months and then was moved w/us. I guess I'm going to have to wait and see what is decided in December.
