Couple of questions for anyone who has experienced this. I am in the process of adopting a five year old boy. I learned last week that he has a baby sister, born 9/1/07. My fs's worker is trying to help me track down the baby's worker, but we have run into a dead end. This is what I know. SW says that baby was a relinquishment. Baby is in the system's computer, but doesn't have a worker assigned. I called the adoptions unit, and they have no record of the baby in their system. I am interested in adopting the baby girl as well, but don't know what to do know. Is it possible birthmom signed her over to a private agency to be adopted outside of the system? If so, why is there a file on the baby in the sw computer? Anyone have any advice on who to call now?

I have no experience with anything like this so it's just a thought, if you know the location can the worker contact the hospital where the baby was born? Perhaps if mom never took baby home and did relinquish to an agency immediately they would have record of who she was discharged to.
