Our first baby!
I picked up our first baby placement today. she is four weeks, and so pretty.

They're fun aren't they? We've had Pixie for two months now and we get another baby and his big sister tomorrow!

Aw ! congrats sounds like fun !! and guys my 2 are probably leaving next week I've never had a placement under 20 months can someone pass me baby magic ? please ?

Many special Former short term foster / respite children !!!!! June 16th 2008 Welcomed M (9) now 10 (here over 1 year ) 8/19/08 Welcomed A (16) (now 17) 8-19-08 (here over 1 year ) now driving in Sr high !   Respite R -15 and K- 9 Oct 14 to Oct 22 2009 fun fun ! possibly getting another girl soon !

our first night
Well our first night came and went and I did not get any sleep. I had gotten myself so worked up I could not sleep. what if I dont hear her, what if ............but the baby slept all night but one feeding. It has been great.

well we went to court on wed and they sent her home. which I thought was a great thing. Mom and grandma, aunt and dad all came to our house to pick her up they were so excited we were happy to help.
Here is the trouble I have now,we live in a very small town. this babys family lived right next to my parents when I was growing up for 13 years. the babys mom is the same age as my sister. so short side we really know them. My mom has a daycare and baby sits for all of my sisters friends who all know the babys mom. they all knew I had the baby and who the mom was just by hearing the babys name (small town). we have heard rumors about a huge party last weekend and the babys mom was so high she could not walk one girl watched her do drugs, the reason the baby was in foster care was she tested positive for drugs when she was born. so what should I do? should I just wait it should not be long at all before she fails a drug test, or should I call cw. I was thinking I would call on tues and say something like "you know we live in a small town and we have been hearing rumors that we hope are untrue, but If the baby needs a placement would you consider us again". I am so upset. when they placed her here they told us it was going to be for a long time, then one week later the cw totally supported the mothers case, praised her in court fought for her to go home, and now this. I dont want to seem like I want to take her baby, but I do think she deserves a home and a mother not addicted to drugs and puts her needs first.

They sent the baby back, when baby had been positive for drugs?!? In my state, they want the mom in an inhouse rehab for two months before a baby can go back. And then that is for the the baby to live in the rehab with the mom!
My current FD only tested positive for Methadone when she was born. BMom confessed to using Heroine in the first 4 months, and she had a history with DSS. I have had FD for over 4 months now, and she is just getting reading for RU. (because of the mom's history, the SW wanted mom at the in house program for 6 months instead of the usual 2, to really prove herself)
