You are never going to believe this!!!!
My boys cw called me and said that my boys older brother's fp no longer want to adopt him and she wanted to know if I would be interested in adopting him as well....
I was like what?!??!?!? Excuse me??!?!? I didn't actually talk to her, but she left a message on my voicemail.. She was like, I understand if you don't want to adopt him as well, because I know you already have 3 kids but I wanted to ask because we would rather they be kept together...and we would like him to move in as soon as possible... WHAT!?!??! She was like I'll call you back on Monday or later today, so you can think about it....What?!?!? That's not enough time.... The brother just turned 4 or he is about to turn 4.....OMG ....I'll have 4, ages 4 and under.....Oh my the daycare costs......at least the 4 year old can go to the free Pre K program they have here this year and the following year he will be going to Full Day Kindergarten I am licensed for one more child, but never thought I was going to fill that spot this soon.....and with another (gasp) BOY!!!! and if you remember I got a call from an adoption sw 2 days ago asking me did I want to be considered for a 10 y/o girl...that would be 5 kids..Yes 5 kids until my 7 m/o old is reunified..... God is just showing off now.....I have been waiting almost 20 years to adopt since I was 8.....and he is REALLY bringing me a harvest on all the prayers that I prayed..... I don't even know what I am going to tell them about my boys brother or the little girl.....But knowing me...I'll be a mom to 5 pretty soon...... ![]()

Just talked to cw
Cw just called me back and she said that Older Brother's (L) fm mentioned on her last home visit that she may not be able to adopt L because the just adopted a 2 y/o and she is an older woman....
CW talked to her the other day and mentioned that she would see if I wanted to adopt him.....She said FM wasn't too pleased with that idea because she wanted her friend to adopt him because he is familiar with the friend... CW told her that it is more probable for him to be placed with me because I already have his brothers and that the friend could put in an application and they would consider her, but she would most likely would not get him over a licensed foster parent who also has bio siblings.... She says she would call FM, which she did before I could finish typing this message, but got FM voicemail....She said that she may change her mind again and decide to adopt....so we'll see... I'm not going to turn it into some major custody battle....but if she doesn't want to adopt him, she doesn't really have a sayso as to where he will go.....I told cw I want to do a respite next weekend or the weekend after that..but who knows, FM might change her mind.... However this whole thing turns out, I will be happy as long as my boys will have a relationship with their brother....I don't necessarily have to be the one to adopt him...as I wasn't expecting to adopt him anyway,I just want them to know him... However, if she doesn't want to adopt him, cw already knows that I will be willing to... CW wants me to adopt him....and I have a feeling the judge hearing the case, the agency, and GAL will favor me over the friend Either way, I'm fine....I just pray that God's will be done....

Big decisions coming up for you. As far as costs for daycare go... with taking older sibling you might want to give yourself a little more time with the adoption, keeping the boys just a tad bit longer in a pre-adoptive foster status. You will want to evaluate the boy's situation and take advantage of any services and or therapies the older boy may need and which the state can provide. In my MAPP class the instructor cautioned us against rushing into the adoption with undue haste. Just something to consider. On the other end of daycare we adoptive (or hoping to be adoptive) parents in FLorida can breathe a sigh of relief about having to pay for college costs so perhaps you can keep that in mind also.
Best of luck this weekend as you make your decision. I will be sending you good vibes! Last edited by chickieboom : 05-18-2007 at 01:24 PM. |

Wow! You know God never gives you more then you can handle. There has to be a reason for all this. Keeping the boys together would be awesome for everyone involved. You can get adoption subsidies here even after they are adopted so that will help. I know our niece will get a 4 yr paid college education also.
I'm sending positive vibes your way and praying for the little ones. Let us know what you decide.

I am shocked
When I read this my mouth just dropped open. We will adopt our fc in early July we are excited. We have been on hold for the entire 14 months they have been here. My worker wanted us on hold for another year so we can bond as a family. We have bonded. We protested and now its to the first of the year. Another 6 months I don't get it. She said she don't want kids coming and going until my fs knows hes not going anywhere. I understand to a point he is now 3.6 years 14 months is forever in their eyes. He is very settled. I'm ready ROBIN

I think it is an odd thing to leave on a voice messsage. Big news like that should probably asked to you in person especially since there seems to be some give and take. It would be nice if the boys could be togher and you can do it but even if you get to have a relationship with the other Foster/adopted mom I think that would be nice too.
Best of luck!!! tarah |

As far as I know there are no time limits in Florida that you are put on hold before you can adopt another child.... There is no official "foster to adopt" program in Florida...there is straight foster and then straight adoption....I am a foster parent and there are no guarantees that any child will be able to be adopted that is placed in my home.. They do not place kids here based on legal risk, all my foster placements are straight foster....but it just so happened that my 2 of my kids are getting TPR'd....I just got lucky All of our agencies work together in my county...The lead agency overseas all adoptions....Then there is an agency that does licensing, training, foster parent support and child placement only and then there all the 4 other agencies that actually oversea the caseloads of the children... I have kids in my home that are being overseen by 2 different agencies...and my first foster son was from a totally different agency altogether.... After I was licensed as a foster parent, I sent my homestudy over to the lead agency to also be matched for adoption...they amended my hs (just changed the title from foster care to adoption homestudy - literally) and then they send it out to whomever I ask them to....and I also placed on the matching list for kids here in my county... The agency that provides my foster parent and licensing support knows the lead agency has my homestudy, but they have nothing whatsoever to do with adoptions, and they have no sayso over who I can and cannot send my homestudy out to or who I can adopt.....as long as I don't exceed my licensing limit without a waiver (which is easily obtainable (sp?), if I just ask), they won't say anything about any of the kids I have in my home.... After saying all that..my foster care support worker has no clue what is going on with any of my adoptions until I tell her.....and they have a whole department completely seperate from them that places children in foster placements for the entire county..my support worker has no clue who is placed in my home until she comes to do her monthly visit.... She knows about my boys and knows that they are going to be adopted by me, she knows my little one is going home in a few months, but she has no clue that my boys cw asked me to adopt my boys brother....and she has no clue that an adoption worker contacted me about adopting a 10 y/o girl....because I haven't spoken to her about it yet.... and they don't really interact with eachother on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis.....because they are from 3 different agencies.... Are you confused yet???? (lol) BTW thanks everyone for all your well wishes.....
