I hate waiting for the phone to ring

Ok baby C went with relatives on Friday now I just keep waiting on the phone to ring. We havn't recieved a call in probably 5 weeks. I feel useless without a placement and bored. I figure if I get on here and complain maybe the phone will ring.

Has anyone ever called adjoining counties just to let them know, " hey I'm here if you need a home."?

I would and I would take more than one infant at a time. That's what we did and we are adopting 2. and have only been foster parents this June for 2 years. It works!

I would be willing to take two at a time, but not infants. I would have kept baby C if it had been an option, but having an infant that young was very hard on me. I have to have my sleep plus I work, my youngest is in T-ball, my niece is in softball and it's my responsiblity to get her to practices and games. My husband works 4 - 12 hour shifts, so he is no help when he is working. I know I could not do it with two infants. We would like to get between 6mo and 4 years.
While I had C we got a call for a 2 1/2 yr old, but she was being moved from another foster home and I was told she had tantrums ( not your usual 2 yr old tantrums either) so I didn't think I could handel that with a NB and my boys.
So I'm waiting.

We've had 2 openings for about 7-8 weeks now. 5 counties have our name and no phone calls. This is so unusual. I've been full for three years until now. I have a friend in the same county that's had openings since November.

I know how you feel.

My office is very slow about getting babies. After Y left, my worker kept telling me "we'll get you a new baby really soon". And I was just said that they can't controll who comes into the system, and I just expect a long wait. Well, 9 weeks later I got called for G! When I told them on the phone that I would take her, I hung up and thought "I'm not ready!" I was just starting to do my cleaning of the equipment and set up for a next placement.

But I am so glad that G is with me. I call her 'my surprise baby'.

They will call when you least expect it.

Mummy, I like your "I'm not ready!" haha
That's exactly how I expect to feel with my very first placement! We should have our license soon, and to be honest I'm a little scared. We've never even done the parenting "thing" with biological kids, so I'm nervous.

Good luck with getting another placement, momma

Yes, it's very normal to feel nervous. It's very natural. I would be worried if you didn't feel that way.
