Smile New foster parent

I should get my first FC in Jan. and it has been 8 yrs since I had a baby at home, I was wondering, do you boil the water or use the nursery water from the store? Thanks...L.

I don't have any bio kids but when I had a foster newborn, I used store formula.

If you have bottled water you can use that or you can use the kind they have at the store. If you use city water you have to boil it.

Good luck, rest up. Babies are such fun.

I have always used municipal water, warm from the tap, not boiled. And I've never had any problems. My pediatrician knew I used tap, and had no issues with it. (In fact, she recommended municipal water instead of bottled because of the fluoridation.)

I used tap water for my girls and when I had foster baby's and never had an issue. I didn't boil it either, just made it warm. My sister has a little one and doesn't boil the tap water either.

In the last 3 years we have had 7 under the age of 2. We have never boiled the water, but our city water is wonderful. If you live in an especially older home you should use bottled water or have your water tested for lead. We always boiled/ran through the dishwasher all of the bottles and nipples when new out of the package and especially any time the kids were sick. If thrush goes around boil all bottles and nipples between every use.
