trying to find sibling info.

We adopted our foster child almost a year ago. I know that she has 6 full siblings that were adopted out from new jersey foster care system. We adopted her from pennsylvania foster care. My question: Can I find medical info. on her siblings? I know that a couple have severe medical needs...yes, that is the extent of what they told me. I was hoping I could be in contact with the siblings adoptive parents and we can share any medical issues that are necessary. Can I? How? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Brookeer,

Could you call your old SW and ask him or her? When I adopted my son from CA's foster care, I was told about post-adoptive services that could assist possibly in medical cases like your daughter's. See if your state has something like that.

Best of luck,

Yash

Oh, hi! I'm in PA too!

We adopted from Va, and my son has 3 siblings. Everything had to be routed through DSS. It took awhile but I made sure to notify the others if something medically weird showed up with my son and asked them to do the same. Nobody ever contacted me about medical problems but my son is now in contact with one of his brothers, so I can call that child's mom with any questions.

When we signed the pre-adoptive paperwork they disclosed major medical history (ex: mom has history of migraines, etc)

In my state I was told that once the adoption is final there will be NO accessing the records (for anyone). I sure hope it's not the case for you!

Contact the SW and hopefully she/he will be of some help.
