I've been trying to get my cousin for a couple of months. I finshed all my classes, did the background check, and filled out all the paperwork. I still haven't had my house inspected so I can get my cousin. I'm waiting on my socialworker. I talked to her today and she told me that she is going on vacation and she can't do anything about my cousin's case until the 25th of this month when she returns from vacation. (I finshed my classes in July so she had more than enough time to get my house inspected) Now she is saying that she can't find the copy of my fingerprints and that she doesn't have the papers from my children's schools. Should papers from the school hold everything up? She also told me that now I'll probably get the baby in November. She originally told me October. I feel like giving up. Does anyone know what I should do and who I should speak to inorder to speed some things up?

Call her supervisor and see if anything can be done.

Email her and copy the supervisor. Remember to create your paper trail and phone calls don't do it.

Send a CERTIFIED letter, and a cc to her supervisor, explaining the situation about the lost items and how can you expedite the adoption.

Make sure it is US Postal and certified. It will HAVE to be put in the baby's file and also, it will have to be opened by the supervisor. That will make the social worker move so fast it will make your head spin. Do it today... before she leaves for VACA.

Follow the others advice today!!! Unfortunately, many social workers must be shamed into doing their job. Most Social Workers are very busy and you must make them do their job or cases slip between the crack. If they are too busy, you might also want to try going through an agency. Talk to your Social Worker's supervisor about that as well.
