How long until court hearing usually??
Hi-
I picked up a baby from the hospital after birth and have had her for 7 weeks now. They had a pre-trial hearing, but didn't set a court date at that time (something about paternity papers??). The case worker mentioned that it's possible that the paternal grandparents would be interested in the child, but have heard nothing in weeks. Mom has already had a tpr of another child and most likely will not be allowed to have custody of her baby (no visitation or anything). Has anybody gone through a similar situation? I'm wondering what kind of time frame I should be expecting as far as finding relative placements, etc. Thanks!

I live in AZ. I would HOPE that your case doesn't go the way our fd's has.
We brought her home at 4 months old. She was abandoned, although CPS had contact with her bmom for 2 weeks before she fled and has never been found again. She, too, had prior CPS history and had 3 children before our fd. The bfather was never located. In the spring of 2005, CPS tried to locate family members who would take her. The only ones they could locate declined (because of the bmom's prior history with her other children) any participation in this case. So, we knew within 6 months that our little A was on her own. The publications on both birth parents was done over a year ago. The TPR was finally done in January 2006. We have been waiting on an adoption worker ever since. We are lucky that we don't have to deal with any visitation issues from other family members, but the waiting for NOTHING to happen has been brutal. She's been a part of our family for nearly 19 months and we'd just like to finally move on with our family. I hope you have better luck with Mr. Time.
