Board Payment?
Ive had my FD for over a month now and just received a FS and I have yet to receive a board payment, clothing allowance, medicaid card, etc. How long does it normally take to receive things like this?

I have had 2 placements. Each time, I received $200.00 placement check, FP letter and the Medicaid card the day they arrived.
Board payments generally came the month following placement - prorated for the prior month. After that, I've received board payment by the 10th calendar day of the month for that month. I'm in NJ

Actually, when our first FC were placed with us, I waited and waited for payment for 2 months. I didn't want to say anything, because I didn't want to sound like I was "in it for the money". But diapers, food, formula, clothes, etc. were getting expensive for 2 extra kids, so I called the social worker. She had forgotten to put us in the system!
It's normal, though, for it to take over a month for payment, if payments are done at the end of the month each month. We usually get a invoice in the mail to call in at the end of each month, and we get our payment in the first half of the next month. You might want to call and see how your system works, as it sounds like it's different in each state. I know it's embarrassing to ask, but sometimes the system is slow, and you don't want to be left with extra expenses and no compensation! We're in Washington State

We are in IL and the payments are issued the 4th Friday of the month after you have them children. Our one set was placed on 3/1/06 and we did not get a check until 4/30/06 - we were going broke. They did not have any clothes and their grandparents had already used up the clothing allowance before we got them (they were with them before they came to us). The Grandparents wouldn't give up the medical card and I begged and pleaded with the sw - I am a freak about insurance. She wound up calling me with their number and low and behold our one FD had an asthma attack was hospitalized 3 days after we got her (we didn't know she had asthma)

All it takes is 1 person to change the system. DS - 14 DD - 4 FD - 5 (came to us 3/1/06) FD - 3 (came to us 3/1/06) Former Placement FD-12 was here 14 months, failed adoption <sigh> FD- 2 was here for a week before the accident |
