Finally another newborn
I just received a call for a 5 week old baby. He has a 4 year old brother but I said I could only take the newborn and was told they had already found a home for the 4 year old but they wouldnt take the newborn. For the past week I have been saying I want a newborn. Actually they called my husband earlier today and he said no without asking any questions, just said no when he heard it was 2 children. They found a home earlier but when the caseworker arrived the foster dad refused to accept them. So the placement worker doesnt know any of the history due to the fact that another worker had the case earlier today.

Hi everyone, I'm brand new to this site. My DH and I became foster parents just 2 months ago. We are trying to adopt a baby. You all seem to have quite a bit of experience. How do you get through the stress of all the court hearings and god forbid if they take our precious new baby away?

TPRplease, remember that the FIRST responsibility of a foster parent is reunification. Of the 12 children we have had in 2 years, we have only been offered one for adoption.

Well found out today that I will have him probably for only a few days oh well I will treasure each day.
This is my 8th placement in 4 1/2 months and only one of them does it look like might go up for adoption so yes this is a hard way to adopt but on the up side sometimes you get to see bio parents turn their lives around for the benefit of the child. I had one bio mom today say she thinks of me as her mother since her mother passed away a few years ago, I jokingly said sister maybe but not mother I am not THAT OLD, it made me feel good in a way but scared in another way that maybe she is becoming to attached to me. When a baby leaves I do cry but then I look forward to the next one.

Wow, Twin, another J. They must specifically call you for children with J names! J names seem to be popular as two of my three fc have J names too.
As for adopting from foster care, the fc we have now are our first three fc and it looks as if all three are going to go to adoption (one of them was a newborn placement straight from the hospital) and they are not even from the same bfamily. Two of them were supposed to be RU in September but it now looks like the goal will be changed to adoption at the September hearing. We are praying that these three children will be part of our family forever and we will be complete.

Bailey071097 is right. Don't assume anything until TPR has occurred and there re no appeals.

So I found out today that I might get to keep this newborn longer than a few days, the person that had said they would take him for mom thought it would only be about a week and were just told that it could be 6-12 months. They do not want to keep the children that long and they did not really want the newborn anyways. So now we just wait to see if there is a relative to take the brothers.
Yes another J but remember I do have one oddball thats name starts with A, but then again that is my first initial. LOL God just knew how badly I wanted to have another newborn to play with.
