I'm new to the forum. I just finished the MAPP classes, waiting on homestudy. Anyone one from the local area know what other procedures i should expect. And what has been your experience being a foster parent here in the Bronx. I'm looking forward to fostering children between the ages of 0-5. And i was told right now the only kids available are over 8. Can anyone tell me any experiences they have had.

I am from Erie County, NY so my experience is a little different but I am certified for that same age and I got my first call three days after my homestudy was finished and we got a little boy that was 7 months so I guess my point is they really can't be sure what age of children will come into care. So hang in there and good luck.

I'm in Suffolk County (Long Island). Just be ready!! I got the call 3 months after everything was done (although I could take only girls or boys). My age requirement is 0-10.

Hi NY girls! I don't really have anything to add to your post, but I lived in NY all my life (until 4 years ago), and it makes me so happy to see and talk to people from there. I'm from a LOT farther north than any of you (but went to college near Rochester), and some people don't even consider it a part of NY...LOL!! Us St. Lawrence county dwellers tend to be forgotten.

I'm hanging in there, I just don't want to put up bunk beds and fix my seven year old son room since the children will be sharing the room with him and i don't get any calls for children less then 5 years old. I really don't want to get a child thats older than my child. i just wanted to know if anyone had any luck with this age range 0-5.
