FD born premature with cocaine in her system advice needed

FD born premature with cocaine in her system, she is OK and has problems now but I have been researching all the problems she can develop later and I want to do every I can to help her. I have seen that she can have attention span/concentration problems that lead to falling behind in school. I want to start teaching her as much as I can now so that she will hopefully be able to stay up with her classmates. I know this may not be possible but I want to give her every chance I can. She is only 3 months now so I am sure there is not much I can do at this point for her but would like any advice you guys may have or any books, videos, or programs to help us.

Heroine first trimester

My FD was exposed in utero to heroine for at least the first trimester. She had ADHD and memory problems. She has learning disabilities. Her biggest problem is in math. She's doing OK, but I think that she would be doing better if she had earlier intervention like you are providing. Lots of love, consistency, positive reinforcement would be great.

My FD didn't have homework support at home so her study skills were non-existent. She's doing better now with consistency, so it seems to me that you are doing the right thing. Lots of playful fun and expose her to things as she gets older, reading at bedtime, counting, colors and lots of love and I'm sure she'll be fine.

But talk to her pediatrician about other possible suggestions. Good luck. You're doing a great job.

look at your school district. I know in washington state they have a program from birth to 3 years old and they will focus on the areas such as pt and ot(physical therapy and occupational therapy) and then speech if needed..

Thank you for being so encouraging. I lover her so much and it breaks my heart that she may suffer because of her birth mothers mistakes.

I dont know if you already use this, but when I was a nanny I found for children under 2, BABY EINSTEIN really works.

here is some information I have rounded up http://www.adoptionforum.happymomann...opic.php?t=104 Though it will state in the heading methamphetamines, there is also info on cocaine. If you scroll down about 1/2 way down the post, hopefully you'll find some of the information that you were looking for.
