How are ya holding up with the girls?
Been thinking about you and thought I'd ask.

Thanks for asking!
We are holding our own here. Nothing major to report since the runaway incident two weekends ago. The girl's therpists are insisiting on respite care so I can get a chance to recharge but so far we have heard nothing from the SW. T's therapist thinks she may have to recommend that T be placed in a residential treatment facility if her behavior stays on the course it is on. I know that this weekend she quietly destroyed a mini-blind in her room and also smeared chewing gum all over the bathroom tub as a way to get back at me for telling her she could no longer use the computer to chat with her mother. The therapist and SW decided that it wasn't my responsibility to supervise these "chat sessions" and that it put me in an awkward position. This is so typical of T to do. She will not show anger outwardly but will do it in an passive aggressive manner. Both C and B are terrified that T is going to mess up this placement for them. Especially B who had become very attached to me to the point of telling everyone I am her "real" mom and that her biological mom isn't her "real" mom anymore. C will be 17 next month and only has 1 year of high school left and she is starting to realize how good she has it here. She had told me and her therapist that if feels strange to her to have a mom who treats her like a daughter should be treated. She says she finally feels like someone actually cares about her and what she is doing. She says her bio-mom never cared what she did and that living with restrictions has not been easy for her but that she likes it because she knows she is being cared for. I am hanging in there and taking it day by day. The funny thing is that slowly I am seeing these girls turn into "my girls". I am still hoping for the best but we will have to wait and see what happens. C's jr prom went great for her last Friday. She is finally getting a taste of what it is to be a carefree teenager instead of a mom to her younger sisters.

Anne,
It really sounds like things are going better and much smoother! You are doing a super job hanging in there for these girls. T may need more than what you all are able to give her and her accept at this time. It's nice to see that the other girls are slowly seeing the light. Keep up the great job! Glad to hear the prom went nicely and C enjoyed herself. That is a hard thing for many kids. Have a good week! It finally stopped raining her in CT and the sun is shinning today!
