I need someone to tell me...

That I am either crazy or super lucky...or that I'm a glutton for punishment. We got called for a new placement today, and I agreed to take it after talking to my husband. She was born yesterday, and is ready to come home today. It's funny because now that baby J is almost 5 months, I saw a newborn in the mall the other day and said how cute she was and how much I missed the newborn stage. BE CAREFUL OF WHAT YOU WISH FOR!!!! So now I will have a 5 month old and a newborn!? What am I doing!?

 you are doing what most of us here would!

Babies are so addictive and the potato chip phrase comes to mind. You can't have just one!

I currently have a 17 month old and a 10 month old. Last summer I had a 7 month old and a 4 month old. It's a lot of fun. Your friends and family will think you have lost your mind, but to me.. it's just the natural thing to do! LOL

Congratulations on your new baby and lots of luck to you. I'm sure you will be fine!

I think you are great!!

I wish we could get another baby!! Our youngest fd is 9 1/2 months and I want a newborn so bad!!!! But with our crew we are pretty much out of the running for a long time as we are hoping that we are moving towards adoption on all of them.
Enjoys your babies

AH! Thank you to all of you who have helped me feel better about this. All of my family (while very excited) thinks I have gone insane. I told them that I can't explain it, there is no rational thought behind it, but deep down I just knew that we had to say yes. It really helps to hear that not everyone thinks I'm crazy!

I'll let everyone know how it's going later tonight...

Ready for the butterfly nets...

Krissy -

You are not as crazy as some may think. Having 2 babies is easy. I almost always have at least 2 under the age of 1 year.

Sometimes, like last weekend, I have more. From Sat. evening until Tue. morning I had ---- 5!!!!!!!!! Yep, 5 under 1 year, and I'm single. That is nuts. There were 'O' - 10mm, 'J' - 5mf, 'S' - 5mf, 'M' - 3mf and 'Z' - 7wm. With the grace of God we all survived. Yes, I was a bit sleep 'depraved' but it was well worth it.

Now, all I have is 'S' - 5mf and am bugging my certifier for at least one more. I have 3 openings right now, so need to fill at least 1, hopefully 2 within the next few days.

Tomorrow is our annual 'Pamper Me Day', which is a day on which our local DHS office honors the foster parents in our county. We get free haircuts, massages, lunch, lots of prizes and the announcement of our Foster Parent(s) of the Year. It is a wonderful day. The DHS staff watch all the kiddos so we get a 4 hour break from any duty and get to network with other foster parents and many caseworkers. I absolutely love it.

Well, better get 'S' down for her morning nap and then I'm going to start redoing her room (I'm putting her down in the boys nursery).

Have a wonderful day and enjoy the wee ones.

Blessings,
Lynda

Lynda,

That Pamper Me Day sounds awesome! And judging from the crew you had recently, you really need it! I just hope there's a way that we can get both kids on some sort of schedule where they both won't need a bottle at the same time...but with J's visits, they never stick to his schedule.

Question Getting exciting

Wow!! You are blessed. We are from Pa. and we are currently in the process of becoming foster parents. We only want infants and we've been told that they rarely place infants. I was very discouraged. My prayer is that we can help a baby that needs some loving care. Can anyone give me any encouragement?

I think it depends on where you live we live in Jacksonville which is a large city on therefore there are more newborns avail. My 1st placement was a newborn 2 days old. 2nd was a 9 month old and 3rd is a 7 month old. The newborn is now 2 months old and leaving next week so I hope they have another young one for me soon. ( Not that a hope that a child must leave its family but I love having the little ones)

Quite honestly, I have no idea how we were lucky enough to get 2 newborns. We have only been fostering since September, so we're still relatively new. All is going well so far, there has only been one time where both babies were crying at the same time.

I live in PA also and all of my actual placements have been infants. Truthfully, when I started fostering I wanted ages 3-8!

My first placement was for a 2 m/o preemie. 15 months later and I still have her

My second placement was for a 4 m/o girl. And my third placement was 9 m/o when she came.

I do respite and have had different ages, but I really enjoy the babies.

I live in PA and have babies all the time. And so do 7-8 of my foster parent friends here in this area. We are about 90 minutes from Philly which is where our babies come from.

I know you are probably thinking that you are out of your mind but I think that its awesome.
Right now we have our 2 fs that we have tpr date of this week for (whoot whoot!) plus 2 sib that are getting ready to leave next week. I was just thinking yesterday that even though I said I was going to take a break for the summer and let the boys settle in, I really really really would love to get a baby!
It seems like the tiny ones are in short supply around here.
