Baby Girl Yearnings

Has anyone gotten a baby girl through the system ? My first foster child was a 13 month old girl and we had her for 15 months. I have two boys but am yearning for another female presence in the house ( even a little one). One of the oh so compassionate caseworkers today said well you know - they usually come with older siblings so be prepared for that - besides - dont you already have two kids of ours (as if they have to dole them out because they have oh so many people willing to take in FOSTER kids) Now mind you I didnt say adopt - although ultimately I would like to - she just made it sound like I was out of my mind when I said I would like to take in a baby girl next time I take in a placement. Am I nuts- or do girls always only ever come attached to siblings?

We're not looking to foster at this point, and may be a little while away from our next adoption, but I really, really, really want a girl. I also have 2 boys. dh doesn't understand this compulsion, but I'm right there with you...

We have a nine week old girl that we got at two days old and also a little girl that turned two in January. Although they both have siblings (one has one brother, the other has two brothers), we were only placed with the girls. So yes, it does happen. We are also requesting girls as we have three bio sons and only one bio daughter. I know the longing for a girl since my three boys are the oldest but God always has a plan. I have always wanted older boys and younger girls and that is what we have now.

Good luck.

We seem to get calls for girl placements :-) D doesn't have any siblings thru bmom but not sure about bdad but it looks like we will be adopting her.

M has 2 siblings and we were placed w her. She came into care first that's when we got her then her siblings were taken into custody a few days later. They tried to find a home for all 3 kids but they said they would only take the older ones ( 2yr & 5 yr).

We've had 5 placements so far and 1 was a boy and 4 were girls!

Our current fd came to us at 7 months old with no siblings. What is really more unique than having a child with no siblings is having a child with no siblings who has no family members willing or eligible to take him/her. An only child so often is an only child because the parents are very young, (as is the case with our fd), so there are usually enough grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. around who are willing to step up and care for them.

But don't be discouraged because there are so many different scenarios out there, it's probably not a matter of "if" but "when."

And I agree that little girls are SO special.

I just want to say that I sympathize with you. My step daughters live with their mother full time, and that leaves me swimming in the testosterone pool too! Sometimes it gets crazy. I am hoping our next placement is a girl too!

I got our dd when she was legally free at 11 1/2 months. She does have older siblings, but they'd been adopted into other homes unwilling to take her. I'm sooo lucky .

I received a 2 day old girl, who although has siblings they are with a family member. I will have her for a couple of months until the family member can take her.

My other fd was 9 months old and she has a brother and a sister but when I received her they did not know this it was 2 weeks before they knew there were siblings.

I completely understand having a girl. I have always wanted a daughter and still do. I have a good relationship with my mother. We go out almost every Sat together. We love to go walking every evening when its nice. I want that when Im older with my daughter.

I have had three baby girls with no sibling. 1st one was a two month old. She was with us for only a month.. she went with family. Then I got a 5 month old. She was with us for 4 months. Went back to b-parents. Now I have our little one. She came at 2 days old and is now 4 months. She has a 1 yr old sister, but her b-father has custody of her. It looks like we might be able to adopt her, so my dream of having a daughter might after all come true. Good luck.

It seems I'm doomed - after I posted - maybe like an hour I got a call for a placement for 3 yr old twin boys - like I dont have enough maleness here now I politely declined. Not that I have anything against boys - they just arent as cuddly as girls and I for the life of me dont understand why everything including cereal spoons have to CRASH, BOOM, BANG- of course my DH does- but then again he is just a man.( sorry fellows- just teasing )

I guess I feel the same about girls! Hahahaha! But I do prefer shopping for them and they are a lot of fun. I have 3 nieces and most of my cousins are girls.... and we've been called mostly for girls....

I want to see what it's like to have a baby boy.

Madfostermomma--I have 3 girls in my home and one boy, oh wait two my hubby lol, let me tell you I give the girls a spoon and it also goes CRASH, BOOM, BANG. The girls are a lot more wild then my boy. The oldest one is always running, jumping, climbing things. Lol you ask for cuddles and she says "Ewww" and my boy comes running and cuddles. Lol. So dont be surprise that a lot of little girls are just like little boys. Oh they love bugs, they try to convince me to keep them as pets.

Now the shopping!!!! Im sorry to say, but there is soo much cuter clothes for little girls then boys. And the hair. I love doing girls hair. To buy them dolls and barbies. Hehehe Its just soo much fun. Hubby has fun buying boy toys and I have fun buying girls toys. Coming to think of it, I think we have more fun at the toy store then the kids . Good Luck. I hope you will get your baby girls soon.

I want a baby period! LOL! Although I do prefer a girl at this point I would just love a baby!
We have 4 fosters right now, 2 sets of sibs. We are hoping to adopt our two boys. We also have a 9 yo bio daughter. I think a baby girl would just complete the picture once the adoption is finalized.

As far as which is easier to raise according to my mom she said it depends on when you want to get old, LOL! She said if you want to be old when you are young have boys, if you want to get old when you are old have girls....LOL! After raising our two boys for the last 2 years and having a prepubecesent girl I think that I have to agree!

We have a baby girl who is eight months old, we got her when she was two months. She has five older siblings but they have been adopted by two separate foster families. We also have a 14 month old girl, we got her when she was eight months old. She does not have any siblings. About two months ago I got a call for a nine month old. I had to say no, two babies is enough. Then two weeks ago I got a call for a fifteen year old mom and her five month old son.

Good luck. Sending baby girl vibes your way!
