Adoption announcements???
Hi, I was wondering how you handle sending out adoption announcements when you adopt older children? Our girls were baby's, 6 mths old, when we finalized and we mailed them out, but I was not sure if it is ok to do it with older kids or how you would do it.

I'm planning on sending out adoption announcements but our fd is 2yr. It's basically just going to have her adopt date and birthdate and her new full name on it and welcoming her into our family. (That was definitely a run-on sentence w all the and's)

I think an announcement is absolutely appropriate and helpful for the child. It shows how important this even is to you and how proud you are. On N's announcement we had a photo of her and J. Here are some wording examples I found on the Internet:
(A) Heading:
1. Suzy Samantha Smith (C) Dates: Born: 1. Born January 31, 2000 Welcomed: 1. Welcomed home July 4, 2005 2. Welcomed with love July 4, 2005 3. Welcomed into our hearts and home July 4, 2005 4. Part of our family July 4, 2005 Adopted: 1. Adopted March 3, 2006 2. Adopted in Love March 3, 2006 3. Adopted with Love March 3, 2006 4. Ours forever March 3, 2006 5. Part of our family forever March 3, 2006 6. Forever in our family June 20, 2005 (D) Closing: 1. Proud parents Mike & Karen and big sister Emily 2. Mike, Karen, and Emily Smith 3. Happy Family Mike, Karen, and Emily Smith 6. Welcomed with love by Mike, Karen, and Emily Hope this helps.

We made dd's adoption annoucements. She was 4 1/2 by the time it was final. I am a scrapbooking addict so I already had all the stuff. We made them pink and frilly with bows annoucing when she came into our lives, when we became a forever family and her full name. I was invited to an adoption party the other day for a 7 year old and the announcement was beautiful. It was printed on rose cardstock with an oval picture of an infant with the date she came into care and a picture of her now and the date it was final. Very pretty.
