Need to vent/need support

We have had our fs forever, and have an adoption date in a couple of months.
We have his sister, who we have had for eight months. I spoke with the worker today, who advised that bmom is doing "fabulous" at her drug residence (the same residence that failed to disclose her positive toxes, covered for her missed visits, etc. the last time around with fs) per their reports. The last time we had a service plan review, the drug residence made it very clear that they would not disclose tox results because they come from an outside lab, and that for the worker to obtain this information, he would need to get a release of information from bmom. So, I ask him if he has done so, and he has not because bmom looks so fabulous. When I questioned him further, he became defensive and started talking about reunification (his usual way to deal with confrontation). I cannot believe that given our last experience with this place, he is not insisting on the tox information. This is bmom's fifth child....your support as always is appreciated!!!

"looks clean...doing fabulous"

that's what they kept saying about my daughters bmom.....they were pushing for RU even when serious concerns were coming up just so they could close the case.

The day my daughters bmom went to court and was supposed to get her back she looked clean to me. BUT thanks to someone...(namely GOD above) they did a drug test and everything changed around when it came back positive. She is now ours....without that test she would have likely went home that day despite the other concerns and safety issues some of us had.

I would talk to your childs attorney about some of these issues.....he/she really needs to know!!

Oh, our children have a wonderful law guardian who is a very strong advocate for them and knows bmom's story from the first four. Our law guardian's office has a social worker who serves as an investigator and attends all the service plan reviews and he is totally on to bmom and this residence. We also have a wonderful attorney who advocates for us.

I just continue to be amazed at this system. We are opting out of fostering after things resolve with our fd because we cannot take the roller coaster. It makes me sad, but I can't take the uncertainty. I want to go to sleep someday and know that my kids are MY KIDS and no one is going to take them from my house. Selfish, perhaps, but I know my limits.

I would go above the sw and go to his supervsor. I would also call the GAL and express concerns, based on facts from last case.

I am sorry that you are having to go through this again.

Have you put these concerns in writing to the cw?

Sometimes you get better answers when it is in writing because they know there is a record of your requests.

Good Luck

I am so sorry... that stinks.

I think that when they think they have a "success" they really can overlook things. That is just basic SW though - she has to have drug screens???? If she has had a substance abuse problem she should be wanting to prove that she is clean and it should be part of her service plan. Do you have a copy of that? I'm suprised the GAL isn't insisting on it. Something does not sound right here.

Let us know what happens and I'll also keep you in my prayers.

oh, and I agree putting the request in email format and cc'ing the GAL is a great idea. When his job is on the line he may not be so casual.

A greater part of the problem is that the supervisor REALLY wants bmom to succeed this time....supervisor was bmom's cw a few kids ago, and she is admittedly not objective.

Any moves we have made to formally object have been met with threats to move the baby. CW made such a threat in front of our attorney at the last court date.

I have good relationships with the law guardian and the investigating sw from her office, and calls into them.

We will not give up.

Update

So, today, the cw called and reported he is increasing visits to three-day overnights by the end of May when we go to court. The current visit schedule is two one-hour supervised visits.
Calls are in to the Law Guardian.
Ugh.
