Question regarding kids who return to you in foster care
My foster son lived with us from 3 days old till 7 mo and was RU'd in March 05 with his birthmom.
We received him back into our home as a foster child last week. I'm just wondering how many of you had a similar scenario and ended up going thru RU all over again and how many of you got to adopt? I just need a reality check regarding the likelihood of RU again. There's a process involved with "toughening up" your heart in order to walk thru it and if RU usually happens, even in a return-situation, I need to start "toughening up" again, if you know what I mean. Please share your stories with me. TIA!

We have two fs's that lived with us from June 2004 until Jan 2006, when they returned home to mom. Then on Feb. 24 we had them for an overnight only to find out mom got in trouble again and they wouldn't be returning home. So now we have them until June of 2006, when we go back to court to find out how well mom has done the past three months to determine whether they go home or not. Sorry, I don't have a story with an ending yet...
We did tell the cw we will adopt the boys if reunification doesn't work out. Btw mom did not call by 7pm(Sat) as she was suppose to do according to the caseplan, so the visit for today was canceled. Not looking good if she wants reunification to happen. It's so sad, and the boys are convinced they will be home in June b/c that's mom told them. Keep us posted on your situation. |

RM - wow - a full 12 months in RU and then back??? I don't have any advice, but am curious to your responses. My fd has now been in RU 6 months, no one can believe she is not back in care yet. I wonder how long I will feel that it could happen at any time??
Can you share why he came back?

Our kids came to us in Nov 04. They RU'ed with bgrandma in April 05. June 05 grandma leaves town. So kids went to bmom. July 05 bmom is arrested and the kids have been here since. The case is no longer RU but TPR. Don't have the outcome yet, but we're not going with RU at this point.

Actually he was RU for 13 mos. And I still don't fully understand what happened to bring him and his 3 sis's back into care. One is in an assessment home, the other 2 are together in a foster home and then little T is here with us.
I just know that each day with us makes us love him more and hope he can stay with us forever. I need to get a grip! ![]()
