Hi everyone.
I am 26 and Dh is 28.
We got interested last summer about possibly fostering. My Mother was adopted as a baby, and we would like to possibly adopt. We are also "trying" for a baby ourselves as well.

So I contacted our CPS here locally, and got a packet for classes that started the next week. We finished our class at the beginning of November and turned in all our paperwork, then heard nothing for 2.5 months.. We were finally contacted in January to set up our home studies. My state background check came back, but we are still waiting for my FBI and DH's FBI and state backgrounds to come back (Dh had to get his fingerprints redone). We had our first homestudy on 2.14 and our second one done on 3.6.

So now we are just waiting.

We plan on taking younger kids, from birth to 10.
We are very excited to do this.

Welcome and congratulations on your decision to foster. I started my classes in March (2000); finished in May. Everything else was done by July and that's when I was certified. Got my first call in October. I have one room so I have to take either boys or girls, not both. I think if you have more room, you'll get called sooner. What state are you in? I'm in New York.

Let's see....we inquired and sent our first paperwork in October 2003. We started classes in November, homestudy in Jan & Feb and were licensed in March 2004.

We had our first placement on June 29, 2004. We are hoping to TPR in May/June and adopt by the end of the year.

In all that time we've only had one other foster placement (for a week) this past December.

We have gone to committee (for adoptive placements) at least 5 times and were picked for a child twice but both times something happened and we never got them.

My point it, patience is needed in truck loads! Hang in there!!

We have one room.. We would like to stay with one child, or two of the same sex.

We inquired in April 2004, classes in June 2004, Homestudies in August and September 2004, and officially licensed in January 2005.

A week later we got the call for a 4 yr boy then a week after that a 10 yr girl.

We were also 0 to 10. But changed it to 6 and younger b/c we weren't ready for the behaviors that she was exhibiting.

Now we are at 0 to about 3 b/c we want to keep the children under the age of our FD.

Hi I started my classes in October of 2005. I had my homestudy approved on 2-7-06. I am currently waiting to be matched!!! I am a single mother of one, I am interested in adopting 3-9 yr girl. I live in CA.

I started classes in July 2005 and was licensed to foster/adopt in November 2005. I'm STILL waiting for a placement for a sibling group of two - boy and girl. I've had a few calls, but nothing that was close to being a good match. Good luck!!!

We inquired in Feb 05. Took our classes in May/June 05 and just got our final home visit on Friday (3/06). We are waiting to hear from the state. In the mean time we have to redo our physicals.

We started this adventure back in October 05. Had our home study done by Christmas and did all the classes etc... Got certified 3/3/06 and now here waiting for the phone to ring.

We inquired in Jan of 03 went to class in March. Got licensed in June and got our first placement in August and they keep coming. We adopted a sibling group which went FAST. They had only been placed with us for 6 months (which in my state is how long a foster child has to be in your care before you can adopt them) and it was finalized.

Congrats on your decision. It is such a rewarding thing to do.
