GA DFCS just lost all of it's Wrap Around programs

Just found out that all funding for our wrap around persons in GA just ended. We will not be able to use them for therapy, visitations, or any other services like Dr's appointments and tutoring.

These children have so many issues that these services are vital to keeping up the Foster Care Support for us parents. I am not sure what will happen now. Supposedly the CW is now going to provide these services or the foster parents. I am sorry but i know I work all day and the constant therapy and dr's appointments that have to be completed during working hours I can not get to and it will be detrimental if the kids can not get to their therapy sessions. The case workers are already overloaded, how are they going to provide constant shuttle service themselves?

I want to know who authorized this and where were our advocates against this change??

Can you please explain what a wrap around person is so that I can better follow the conversation? From context, I understand it to be an aide in getting foster children to their scheduled appointments. Is that the only service provided?

Is there any way to hire one of those Kids' Taxi services and charge it to the state? LOL!

We live in Georgia and we lost ours about a month ago. Now the caseworker does our supervised visits. It is awful now because if she gets called out on an emergency they have to find someone else to do it and we usually have to wait 30 minutes for them to find someone. She also takes them back to daycare and I never know when they will be returned.

yes a wrap around person usually does all the transportation and visits for the kids. For me it is vital. My kids are special needs and now to have the funding end it will be next to impossible to get them to all of their appointments. We can not afford for me to miss work any more than I have and to have to go to therapy, tutoring and visitations 3-4 times per week starting at 1:45 pm each day.

This might be another turning point as to not having foster parents or us being able to foster the ones that we have.
