Fire extinguishers
I have looked through our manual at least a hundred times trying to find the info about what size fire extinguisher we need. What size have you all bought? That is one thing that I know is common across the board, we had the same one the first time we lived here in CO, we had it in TX and in WA and somewhere along the way it got misplaced. Thanks!!!

I'm in Ohio and we have to have an industrial size one...the actual size is a 3a40bc.
It's the same size you see in a store or whatever...the big mamba jamba. ![]()

Our state required a 2 A 20 BC fire extinguisher. We bought a two pack from a warehouse club and have two 1 A 10 BC extinguishers that worked: one upstairs, one down.
I've started giving fire extinguishers as presents at wedding receptions with a little note that says: Hope you never need these. They are so important to have, but few people ever think to buy them. Plus, I never have to worry about other people duplicating the gift! ![]()

I suggest that you call the fire inspector and ask for his/her recommendation. It will win points during the inspection.
State child care agencies are experts on child care, not fire protection. Some things like smoke detectors, exits and having fire extinguishers are general requirements. So, they should avoid such specifics. Fire instance, our inspection requires us to be free from fire hazards. That's more of a subjective opinion and hard to specify. |

I never thought about the size of the fire extinguisher, we just bought a pack from Sam's. SW saw them and didn't say anything.
