Question Quick question about taking Foster Care classes

Hi,

I am looking into doing Foster Care in Massachusetts and I'm very excited about starting the classes. I was just wondering, my brother and sister in-law are also thinking about doing the classes and we were thinking about taking the same classes, i mean the same exact class you know at the same time. I was wondering though what do you all think about being in the same class as your own family members. I get along with them both pretty well i just wasnt sure if it would be good to be in the same class.

Thanks so much

I am in Mass also. I think its great to participate with other family members. You can offer each other support and resources. I went at it alone and would have loved having a family member! MASS needs foster homes badly. I am glad you are travelling down the road to become one!!

I would agree--having a family member at classes would be a great idea...it will help you both to stay on the same page and it would be awesome to have another close couple that you can talk about the classes with.

It's hard to explain the classes to other family members...having family members present who truly understand what you are going through will be the building blocks of a great support system!

Ditto! I am taking the classes now. I am one of three families in the classes. I think it would be great to have someone close to you that you could discuss class topics with. It's hard explaining some of the stuff you learn to other family members & it would be great to have someone know exactly what you're going through!

I agree, it's a very good idea. To have that support is fabulous!
