AA infant hair/skin care

I am familiar with hair and skin of children in the Caribbean but think it will be different for AA infant. I also helped with severa older girls hair but not infant hair. Very humid and hot where as in NY it is cold and dry this time of year. I had a few friends who had newborn babies and they didn't do much with their hair but put a little vasaline on it. I know they used a lot of baby powder for the humidity and for dry skin shea butter. I'm not sure what is customary with AA infant girls in the US as far as hair goes. I'm going to research this more today but does anyone have any hints/suggestions?

Thanks.

L

Stay away from vaseline and other petroleum based prodcuts as well as products with mineral oil in them. While they look like they are working, they tend to block pores and cause more harm in the long run.

Baby shampoo is fine, in the beginning. Maybe a little baby oil on the scalp and skin. Burt's bees has a natural apricot baby oil that works well.

You can find Shea butter at bath and body works. It is in the True Blue Spa line and its called "too shea". It is wonderfull for chapped cheeks and a must for all over after a bath and at bedtime. Soft and Precious hair creme is great for infant hair. You can find it at some walmart stores and they also have a website. you can find it by searching for Soft and precious. Good luck and congratulations!
