What a little TLC can do! Share your stories
Everyone knows my little Christmas Angel came on friday. She is a sweet baby I bonded very quickly. Let me tell you something.Friday afternoon I laid down for a nap my fs went to Grandparents for Christmas. I was feeling sad because I know he will be going home soon. I laid there and prayed to God and ask him to bring me a phone call for a new baby. I woke about 4:00pm. At 5:00 pm I got a call about an infant needing placement right away. My prayers were answered. She came so dirty with the clothes on her back which were too small. She smelled like cigerettes. I had no idea what kind of formula she was on, or when she ate last. Her little eye was sealed shut with pus. I had eye drops from my other little guy who had conjuctivitis. I had to do something. In just 2 days she looks great her eye cleared up. I wonder what her life was like up until friday. I know that now she will always have her needs met. Share your stories of the tranformations.

Robin61, congrats on your bundle of joy. I hope she never knows anything but love, joy and peace from now on.
My husband and I have been talking about taking a break from fostering. So I prayed to God, For him to lead us in the right direction. That night I had a dream that I was in the delivery room helping some female give birth. To make a long story short, this baby needed me. The next morning I called my fsupport person and told her I had a baby on the way. She laughed and thought I was crazy. 2 maybe 3 days later she called me and said " was that baby a boy or a girl". They brought me that baby a few hrs later. 3mo old, abused, a couple of fractures, and a 3rd degree burn. I hope this baby never has another day that is not filled with love and laughter, and then some. Merry Christmas |

We had a baby girl straight from the hospital and after a couple of weeks she went to live with her grandmother. I was so heartbroken. We prayed for god to send us a baby that needed a good home. It was about a month later we got a call late at night for twin boys. When we got them they were 6 weeks old and weighed 12 pounds each. They were still putting preemie clothes and diapers on them. One of them had a hole rubbed in his leg because the diapers were too small and rubbing on it. They smelled so bad, was really nasty and their skin was so dry it was cracking. Now they are the happiest and most loving little 7 month old babies.

Hey............Send some of that baby luck my way!!!!!
I was reeeeeeeeeeeeally hoping for a baby this Christmas. But NO. Our county is very large (geographically) but quite small population-wise, and babies in foster care are quite rare. Heck, foster placements themselves are somewhat rare. Many foster homes have closed, even the teen ones. Our county has no money, so they will do anything NOT to put kids in care, which is sad. Too many are kept with birth family when they shouldn't be. So - for all of you with babies this holiday seaon - enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! (And send any extras my way! )Sandy

Our fs came to us at 7 months. He was taken into custody at 6 mo weighing 9 lbs. and 21 inches long. He was evaluated by early intervention and was developmentally 3-5 months. He couldn't lift his head off the floor on his stomach or roll over.
He is now 10 months old and weighs 20lbs and is 28 inches long!!! He is developmentally 10 months and is just the happiest, cutest, most lovable baby boy ever!!! |

We got our two foster kids just over a month ago. Our foster son is physically fine, but he had the personality of a Russian orphan. He was obviously used to spending most -- if not all-- of his time in a play pen. He didn't cry, laugh, or interact. He was kind of a non-personality. In the month since we got him, he has developed a personality! In fact he's become more normal. In fact, he's not content anymore to sit in his crib or bouncer seat. He wants to interact and play. The first time we copied the noises he was making, he looked at us with such shock! He couldn't believe it. Now it's a great game for him to "say" something so we can copy it. He gets the cutest little grin.
I had a lady lean forward in church on Sunday and whisper in my ear: "He's so much more interactive. It's wonderful to see." This lady has seen him only a couple of times since we got him and she could tell the difference. It was so rewarding to hear. I guess that this is the area that makes it hard for me to picture them going home because while they might be physically cared for, they will be ignored again. And that breaks my heart! ![]() |
