Methodone?

My Fs Birthparents Are Together. They Are On High Doses Of Methodone Like 100-125mg How Does That Look To A Judge When They Go To Court For Reunfication In January. I'm Sure They Feel Good They Are Not High On Heroin But Aren't They High On Methodne? Anyone With Experience With This? Will The Courts Know This? Just Curious. Robin

Some Info

I just had to respond to this one, I have no experience with the court system regarding the use of methodone. What I do have is some personal experience, within my own my family, I have a close family member, that is on methadone maintenance. The effects of heroin use is devastaing not only to the physical body itself, but to the mental and emotional side as well. It tore our family apart. When we were finally able to get into a methadone program, the effects were amazing. It completely takes away the cravings for drugs, and is able to allow that person to resume a normal life. It has been a miracle for us. With methadone you are able to function, without that high feeling. Make decisions with a clear and focused mind, and be responsible. My family member has been on methadone maintenance for almost 3 years now, and it has been a god send to us. I do hope this sheds a little light on the situation, and wish you the best of luck with your fs and his birthfamily. If you have any thing else you would like to ask me, please feel free to pm me or email, I would be happy to talk to you. Take care and Merry Christmas.

Lisa

I have to agree with Lisaann...I have a cousin who had serious drug issues until she started on Methadone. It has been an absolute Godsend to her. She went from being strung out on pain pills all the time and in and out of jail/prison all the time to being a working and productive member of society. She even has a job working for the state, all while on Methadone! I know this may not be what you were wanting to hear, but I'm a firm believer in this program to help addicts. Sure, it's trading one addiction for another, but this is legal and is overseen by a doctor.

Bottom line...I think it's a good thing that the bps are doing this to better themselves.

Methodone

I don't want anyone to think I don't want the baby going back. I love him with all my heart. We have become very close to the bio parents. I am sure we will be friends after reunification. In the beginning the mom said dss wanted her on 10mg before she could get him back which is a big difference from 125mg. the bio parents are doing great I am even helping them get a crib. I just didn't want anyone thinking I was knocking the drug. It has been a god send for them. ROBIN

Robin, i didn't think you were knocking them, just conserned for the child you have been caring for. I have no desire to adopt, I just foster, reunionfaction only, but I do want the kids i foster to be safe when they return home, or go to pre adopt familys.

It is ok to ask questions and voise your conserns, these ladies who have responded I hope have eased your mind, it sounds to me like it helps them without the high, thats great.

Keep contact if you can, that whay you can hel-p them and the child. God bless you, and keep up the good work.
