here in Va we took 2 months of training, and completed a homestudy. That took 3 months. (For training and homestudy) Then it was 7 months before we were placed because we were only looking for foster to adopt so we were picky.

I'm in OR and took my training in April of 2002, went on vacation in July (late) and had first placement end of August 2002. I would have had a placement in June, but knowing that I was going out of the country in July my certifier and I decided to wait until I returned.

I have now had 26 placements in 3 years. Currently have 2 - g 16 mo; b 6 mo. My fd is at her first unsupervised, weekend visit with biomom in preperation for reunification next week. My fs will be joining his afamily in October. Hoping to get more placements this week (#1 on the call list).

Good luck.

In TN, it's ten weeks of training and then the homestudy (that depends on how overloaded the cw is). Once you're approved, it really depends on what you're looking for, although the placement unit will call you with just about everything under the sun!

Good luck!

We started in May 2004 w turning in our application. Started PRIDE training in June 2004. Had a home visit for home study in August 2004. Licensed in January 2005. A week later we had our first foster placement. It took us about 7 to 8 mths!
