My foster baby's going home to birthmom in the morning
I'm posting for some encouragement to get thru the next few days.
A little history on this case: Baby "I" came to us at 3 days old testing positive for meth. He spent 17 days out of his first month back in the hospital critically ill and then started having attachment issues (probably in part due to the sudden removal from ** and then being so ill for so long). Anyway, in the midst of all this in May, my 2 yo dd had to be admitted and have her tonsils removed. In July my youngest sister collapsed and died suddenly. In one week's time we were told "I" would be with us thru the holidays, then that changed to Oct 3rd, then last week we were told he's going to reunify tomorrow! Suddenly tonight I am really "feeling" his leaving. I think I have so much invested physically into this child (I'm so exhausted from working with him to overcome his attachment issues) and emotionally (I couldn't fall apart "properly" when my sister died since I had a baby to care for). Tonight I'm feeling ALL the loss and grief of my sister's death AND little "I's" impending departure. So I'm just asking for some cyber-hugs and prayers to get me thru these next couple-few-several days-weeks-months(??). This is my 3rd foster baby returning home to mom, so I already know how hard it is to go thru. THANKS EVERYONE! RM

God, I ask you to be with my friend, RM this week. Help her to find comfort and strength in you. Help her to be at peace with the multiple losses she has faced this year. Help her to lean on her friends and family, and help them to shelter her from the storms of life. Also, please be with I and his birth mom as they reunite. Help his birth mother to protect and nurture her baby. Amen

RM - I will be in your shoes in three weeks. Admittedly, experience with previous reunifications sure doesn't make it any easier!

Thanks so much my dear friends for all your kind words, cyber-hugs and prayers. I definitely can "feel" them.
I have been soooooooo exhausted!! After "I" left Thursday morning, I threw myself into cleaning the house (I am SO my mother's daughter!!). I started sobbing when one of my foster mom-friends called and asked me how I was doing. I must've gotten most of it out, cuz I haven't really cried again since. I went to bed at 8:30 P.M. and slept till 9:30 A.M.!! Friday afternoon I took a 2 hour nap then repeated the early to bed and late to rise routine this morning. I hope I'm just succombing to months of sleep deprivation and not signs of depression. Things really are getting better here at home. My family has gotten closer these last 2 months since Heather died and my husband and I were released from marriage counseling cuz of our amazing progress. I'm going to take some time off from fostering and pamper myself a bit. Thanks again everyone!!! RM

One of my very favorite biblical texts is Phil 4:13: "I can do all things through him (or Christ) who strengthens me." It reminds me that I don't have to depend on my own strength in times of crisis; with God's help I will win through to the end!" God bless you for the wonderful work you do in parenting children when their parents are unable to. Do give yourself permission to mourn and remember that we are promised that we WILL be comforted. You are in my prayers.

GOD IS GOOD.....ALL THE TIME!!!
Even when we don't understand why things happen the way they do, God is good. He is there to hold us up when we can't stand by ourselves. During your pampering, remember that God's going to pick you up, dust you off and get you ready for your next baby. He needs you to do his work here on earth. "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." - Colossians 3:17 May the Lord bless you for what you are doing. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I will also be praying for the baby that just left your home. May the Lord place a hedge around him and keep him safe. I pray that his mother provides the best for him and always, always keeps him 1st. lots of prayers and love in Christ, Beth Blessed mother of 6 biological children Future foster mother by the grace of God |

Amazing
I am continually amazed by these forums; how supportive everyone is of each other, and how amazing each of you are in your fostering experiences.
Best of luck to you. |
