Interstate Compact How Long?
I have a baby that the grandmother is interested in. She is very nice. She lives in another state the sw tells me this can take several months. Has anyone had experience with this and how long did it take? I love having him. At court on july 29th the judge said he will be with me 6 months. Could it take that long. The grandmother tells me they are dragging there feet she still has not had the fingerprint cards sent. Thanks for any advice.

I have seen in many cases the
close relative get a lawyer of their own and get the child(ren) in a matter of days....if she is expecting support from the foster care agency then the 2-6 month wait is not unheard of even if ICPC isn't a factor...I have seen them turn many of those realtive placement down, especially if this is an older grandma...
Some people get really pro-active and get their own lawyer, do not except foster care board rate or medicaid and get the children, especially if it is supported by the birth parents.... so, yes they do dragg their feet a lot....the only thing she can do if the money is a factor is call and bug them all the time..... |
