Foster Daughter Has Strep

Took Miss J to the doc as she was still running a high fever. She has strep. So the little darling will be on penicillin for the next 10 days.

*sigh* Talk about getting broken in fast!!!!!

Oh that poor thing! I've had mumps and all kinds of things but strep was the worst! Lots of 7Up, gingerale and popcycles. Oh just remembering it makes me cringe. Poor her and sorry for you too!

AAAWWWW......how hard for her, too. I'm glad she has you to give her extra attention !

Don't forget to replace the toothbrush....my son kept getting it, and someone gave us that little tip. It seemed to help for us. Hopefully those little germs won't try to find another friendly mouth to call home!!

another tip

Not only replace the toothbrush, but the TOOTHPASTE is a total breeding ground for everything as everybody shares it and touches their brush to the opening.

Visit the Dollar Store and get everyone their OWN tube of toothpaste. It helps to prevent many different bugs from being passed to family members; colds, flus, strep, etc. And really if you think about it, its just plain unsanitary.

Also with the toothbrush, do not replace it until she is on the antibiotic for 3 full days. And if you're not going to replace everyone's at the same time (which is normally a good idea until you do the seperate toothpaste thing, throw everyones toothbrush in the dishwasher for a cycle.

Extra hugs for the baby!!!

forgot to add too

Don't mean to be an alarmist, just want to bring it up if the doctor didn't.

Strep could explain the very bad rash that poor baby has. It can easily be spread to the skin and through the skin to you and others. Anything her bottom touched or fingers in the mouth, etc. Spreads like wildfire. The rash might also be an indication that she has had the step infection for some time.

Hopefully the antibiotic will clear it up. Keep a very close eye on it for changes in appearance or spreading.

Strep is a systemic infection, so its throughout her body and that's why you feel so gosh darn awful, why its a bugger to get rid of and highly, highly contagious.

Wash everything. Be extra meticulous about the diaper area. If it is just horrible diaper rash, that raw area is suseptible to being infected by the strep bacteria too.

Boy I sure sound paranoid don't I? But we've had it circulate our house and just could not get rid of it!!! That's how I found out so much about it.

We have strep at our house too! Zackery who turned 2 in March has it - we went to urgent care on Sunday. Late Sunday evening right before bed & walked in and Shilo, who is also 2, had Zackery's sippy cup in her mouth drinking it. AAAGGGHHH!!!! Now we'll play the "wait and see" game to see if she gets sick too. Any bets? LOL Hope your little sweetie is feeling better REAL SOON!

great to hear!!!

Amazing what a little antibiotic can do for a little one. We would still be bedridden (I know I would anyway).
