Waiver of Reunification Services?
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this?
Our foster daughter has been with us for three months now. We are in the process of adopting her 2 year old half-brother, who was placed with us three weeks ago.
We were told, when we brought her home from the hospital, a "waiver of reunification" was going to be filed because there's an extensive history with this mother and previous termination of parental rights (my son) in the last six months. It was explained to us, if the waiver is granted, DSS would no longer have to offer services.
Today, I learned the mother is doing her case plan and all is going well. I'm working hard to maintain a positive attitude and not work against the tide. However, I was happy to learn the waiver is still being submitted during the next court date. Unfortunately, social worker tells me the waiver on a basis of prior termination is "weak" reasoning for termination.
Has anyone ever dealt with a waiver of this type?
