TPR happened!
The birthmother of my 2 was ready to go to trial... but after arguing with her lawyer (He was trying to tell her she's wasting time.... she doesn't have a chance) she finally decided to sign her rights away! I'm sooo happy.
As for the father, they want to do a tpr based on default...not showing for trial dates... but the judge said he wanted to do a mini trial called a "Social" in June. He says this way the father can't show up years later and try something. This would finalize it. The father has already told me that he wants them with me, but wont sign. He wants his rights taken. I'm soo excited. I sleep so much better at night. The adoption will be so sweet.

thank you all for your replies. It feels so nice.
I feel like I'm on the other side of the fence now... and thinking of the foster parents who are still in limbo waiting for the tpr trial, it's all worth it. One day you'll sleep better. 2 looong years over with. Now I know my kids are safe. Thanks again!

Congrats! I'm so happy for you!!
I got really lucky and both BP's signed away their rights 4 months after our FS was placed. They had a long history with CPS and weren't going to win if it went to trial, plus his birth mother had another on the way and was more likely to have the child removed immediately if she had her rights terminated versus it being voluntary. She also left the state the day after papers were signed. I'm told it's unheard of for things to a happen that fast. |

....THRILLED for you!!! We waited almost 2 years, and the adoption was final 5 months ago. I STILL have to pinch myself every morning to be sure I'm not dreaming !

Wow! congratulations. I can hardly wait to be able to sleep better at night myself. I know exactly how you feel when you say "now I know my kids are safe." I can hardly stand waiting to be able to think that myself too.
warm wishes...Barbie |

God is awesome!
Awesome!!! God is Good!!
Hopefully by the end of summer I can be thinking the same thing!! Initial TPR hearing tomorrow. Of course parents will deny. DFC attorney says at least 60 days before we'd go back to court! ahhhh.....the wait! It's the hardest part! It's so good to hear uplifting and positive stories like yours. Thanks for sharing! |

Sorry if I offended by saying I was THRILLED.....I am thrilled for Lisa, and the kids that they will have a stable home, but not thrilled that tpr occured. I have lived it and well understand the emotions involved....if you have read many of my posts you know that I am extremely supportive of birthparents, and fought for an open adoption with our kids bparents, even when tpr was imminent.
Just wanted to explain myself to the person that gave me a negative reputation....AND thank you for identifying yourself.....I humbly accept what you were saying, and sincerely apologize .
