Quote:
I recieved this in an email from the kids' SW. Has anyone participated in one of these? What should I expect? What would they want to know from me? Thanks! K.

I went through a review but that was as an intern for a residential treatment facility. Not sure what they would ask a foster parent. Probably things regarding how often you are in contact with the social workers, things related to how they are doing. Are they following the treatment plan, etc.

Kate,
I did go through one about 6 months ago for Q. He's from Oregon - we're from MN. Anyhoo, because we couldn't obviously personally attend the meeting, they sent me a list of questions ahead of time for me to answer, essay-style. Mostly about the process, his SW, transition period, etc. So I mailed that stuff in, then we arranged for a time (because of the time difference) for them to interview me over the phone. They put me on speakerphone and then asked me a bunch of questions. I had sent some current photos of him (which they really appreciated) so they asked some questions about how he'd improved his skills, how his devel delays were decreased, etc. Due to some legal issues (none of our doing), he's still not adopted, so we talked about that quite a bit as well. Then they asked about his SW and the supvsr. and the transition worker too. Then at the end, he came in the kitchen when I was talking (he'd been watching a movie with J) so I put him on the phone and he talked a little bit (he was 2-1/2 at the time), which they really enjoyed. It was really easygoing, and it helped that I had some of the questions beforehand so I had an idea of what I'd need to discuss in length. Hope this helps! I'm sure yours will go easily as well. Good luck! Sandy
