Kids are confused
My poor girls...
As I was talking to the social worker, I realized that we were the 4th placement, if you count birth parents as number 1. Keep in mind, these kids are 2 1/2 and 1 year old. The 2 year old is confused, which comes out at different times. She will say she wants to go home, etc. I point out that she is home and she gets a bit of a sad look, then brightens up. This morning she said "you are my mommy too". I took them to the peds office yeaterday. (In our county, there is a peditric office for all foster kids, which is where they all go for check-ups, etc) and there was lady who knew them from church I guess. I don't know how much she knew or didn't know about how they were dumped off so I just smiled and nodded. They also have a visit with BPs today and I am hoping that they don't get even more confused. |

Hi Lea,
It is heartbreaking for these kids isn't it? My 2 were 13 months and 4 weeks old when they first entered care and we were their 4th home in a MONTH!!! I think it's horrible that your state has a specific pediatrician for all foster kids. Talk about labelling them. I don't think I'd like that at all. Hopefully this placement will work out and they won't need to move again (well, until you move in June lol). Michelle

Well, the peditrician thing is great. I didn't think of it in terms of labeling at all. We don't have to worry about findng a doctor who accepts medicaid. The nurses and docs are nice and are trained to spot with and deal with abuse issues.
Plus, for kids that are moved from home to home (in couny), there is at least continuity of medical treatment. |

Been there
We got our fs's last June. They are 6 and 4, 4 and 2 at time of removal. They were removed in March of '04 and we were their 5 th home. So, 5 moves in three months. Isn't that sad? I'm so glad they view our home as home now. They very much love their mother, and she's a very sweet lady. We had a case conference today, as long as she keeps doing well, it looks like it could possibly be late fall for reunification. That will be a year and a half in care for the kids. We really like their mother and she has NO family, so hopefully we can continue to be a support for her. Sorry, this post got off track..... Good luck with your girls!!!!!
