Hello everybody,
I had a question for you guys. We have our 2 neices and 2 nephews in our care from July of last year. The mom and dad have not done to much of their case plan except what the case worker has set up for them. This includes a therapist in their home 2 times a week to help them. this therpist has only been seeing the(just mom and dad not even with the kids) for one month. He said tot he CASA worker today that he was very encouraged and thought the children should go home on the 10th. This is the court date that mom ask the judge for. Has anyone ever had experience of the Judge just letting the children go like that? Parents have had only 2 hour supervised visits for almost 8 months with no change. Last team meeting date they were arrested for domestic violence. Casa said they are outraged because this guy has never been in the visits with parents and kids. he has only seen mom with kids one time and this was to introduce himself. Case worker(A new one) said that she didn't know everything about the case because she was new but thought in her opinion from just what she has seen the kids won't be going home for a while. Will the judge go with the therapist even if everyone is so oposed to it. casa said that increasing visits would be good if they have done most or some of their case plan but not to go straight home. Anybody out there have any imput? i'm going nutts with worry.... Thanks, L |

It's been my experience that CASA, DCS, and the GAL have more control that a therapist. If he testifies they will counter with the facts.
I understand your worrying, honestly I'd be worried too but, being an outsider looking in, I don't believe they'll be going anywhere too soon, especially after an arrest for domestic violence. Best of luck. Michelle

Thank you so much for your reply. The arrest they had was 3 months ago when we had our last court date. That was the 6 month meeting. This court hearing is only to make a quick review to see if there is progress. I do hope you are right. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt the children are not ready. I would think the parents are not because they have had no parenting classes and as far as I know...not to be mean but anyone can be a mom or dad for only two hours a week. Parents can't even controll the children in these two hours. The kids are wild. The real test is when they have more time and more visits. This will truly tell if they can handle their anger and be parents to the kids.
I know, I'm going on and on.....I guess I'm just a worry wart. Sorry. Thanks again your reply does ease my nerves a little. take care, L |
